Yard Worker

Position: Full-time
Overall Summary of Duties
Responsible to assist in the overall operation and level of service given in the lumber yard. Ensures professionalism, customer service and store security is maintained at the highest level. He or she works in the yard as designated, serving customers, preparing loads, storing inventory, and maintaining yard clean-up.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow Richmond BMR standards.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service is provided with every interaction.
  • Ensure customers are created promptly after entering the yard.
  • Carefully check all customer pickup slips and/or load build copies to be sure products are shipped accurately.
  • Receive delivery trucks and place all new stock or special-order product in its correct spot as you receive it.
  • Properly note and report any backorders, short ships, returns, etc.
  • Receive delivery trucks and place all new stock or special-order product in its correct spot as you receive it.
  • Load trucks the day before expected delivery dates as required.
  • Maintain and handle each company vehicle as if he or she owns it.
  • May be required to make deliveries when needed.
  • Maintain and clean daily yard areas (lumber piles, shed and storage areas).
  • In winter, shovel out lumber aisles, gas storage areas, rear deck, and store entrances.
  • Attend store meeting, training sessions etc. as required.
  • Work on additional assignments as assigned to you by the Store Owner.
  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with provincial and federal safety legislations, as well as good use of common sense. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behaviour to the Store Owner to have the situation corrected.

Sales Associate

Position: Full-time
Overall Summary of Duties
The Sales Associate, reporting to the Store Manager and Store Owner, is responsible for providing prompt courteous and efficient service to customers, advising them on appropriate merchandise and related items. The Sales Associate must perform all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to avoid adverse impact on the level of customer service and to contribute to the profitability of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Manager

Inventory Manager

Position: Full-time
Overall Summary of Duties
The Inventory Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and reports to the Store Owner. The Inventory Manager performs all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to avoid adverse impact on the level of service to customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow health and safety practices in all tasks at all times.
  • Act as an internal inventory auditor with sole responsibility for performing and maintaining cycle counts.
  • Alter inventory quantity as necessary to obtain proper inventory level/counts.
  • Review discontinued item report. Review previous sales history of these items to see if discounting and clearing of the item is appropriate or if a replacement item is necessary.
  • Review gross margin report. Suggest changes regarding store inventory in order to maintain desired levels for maximum turnover and profitability.
  • Ensure that all safety precautions are taken when loading and unloading trucks.
  • Ensure the correct freight handling equipment is used to load and unload trucks.
  • Make periodic reports on stock levels to store manager or assistant manager.
  • Make suggestions for rule or policy changes when such changes would improve efficiency, morale, and/or operations in general.
  • Always stay busy by either helping your colleagues, tidying the store, answering the phones, etc.

Abilities:
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service.

Overall Summary of Duties
The Floor Manager reports to the Store Owner and is responsible for store operations, including maintenance of facilities, inventory control, marketing, merchandising, sales, cost containment, personnel management and motivation. The store manager accomplishes his or her objectives by personal action and/or delegation of responsibility as appropriate. The store manager performs all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to ensure courteous and prompt customer service is maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain good communications with owner, management, and employees at all times.
